Wismer & Rawlings Electric, designs, manufactures, overhauls, services and distributes electro-mechanical equipment for use in a variety of applications. The Company has been in business for over fifty years and has three locations in British Columbia; the Head Office and main plant in Port Coquitlam, and branch plants in Prince George and Nanaimo.

Wismer & Rawlings can provide metal-enclosed and metal-clad switchgear, plus indoor and outdoor unit substations for industrial, commercial, and institutional applications. These substations include liquid filled or dry type transformers with primary fuse or circuit breaker protection.

The Field Service division of Wismer & Rawlings is fully qualified to perform specialized technical
services for low, medium and high-voltage systems testing. Specific services include; commissioning, calibration, fault-finding and on-site repairs, apparatus retrofits, preventative maintenance, steam turbine generator testing, “Doble” testing, staff training, power factor, harmonics and co-ordination studies. Specialized oil-handling services are available with the supply and operations of a high-vacuum oil purifier complete with fullers earth, onboard oil storage and
internal power supply. We also provide industrial electrical shutdown planning with a highly trained team of technicians and the latest technology for testing of the complete power system.

Complete “water to wire” electrical systems for hydroelectric generation are available from Wismer & Rawlings. This includes the design, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning of the turbine control, generator protection and control, switchgear, and related subsystems. All components and systems represent the latest in technology and are designed or selected to provide optimal performance and long-term reliability. The systems are complete with power and control system design, Utility inter-tie transformer and switchgear, generator switchgear and subsystems, control panels and protective devices. Installation of the equipment and building services, along with complete testing and commissioning of the systems, are also available for the turnkey packages.

Wismer & Rawlings is an industry leader in the application of linear induction motors for transit systems. Designed for temperature extremes and hostile environments, the reliability of Wismer &
Rawlings linear motors has been proven over millions of operating kilometers in Vancouver, Toronto, Kuala Lumpur, Detroit, and New York’s JFK Airport. This technology offers superior operating advantages such as lower operating and maintenance costs, quiet operation and the ability to brake and accelerate on grades over six percent.

Unit Electrical Engineering Ltd., with a Plant and Office located in Okanagan Falls (Penticton), British Columbia, is a subsidiary company of Wismer & Rawlings who design and manufacture a full range of electrical distribution equipment and custom-built process- control systems for the mining industry. These include modular substations, distribution centres, switch houses, diesel generator power plants, cable repair stations and assay labs. Equipment can be trailer-mounted or kidmounted.

Unit Electrical Engineering has developed a full range of trailing cable couplers for underground and open-pit applications. Spanning the range from 1kV to 25kV, couplers are also designed for specific purposes such as watertight or explosion-proof applications. Wismer and Rawlings and Unit Electrical Engineering can offer customers a combination of engineering, manufacturing, and field and shop service, as well as a wide variety of electrical products. The companies have experience across multiple industries, including mining, forestry, transit, bulk-material handling, ski lifts, marine, utility, and construction.
